Guide: Guild Setup & AdministrationLore of WarCraft provides the worlds' easiest system for setting up and managing a guild website. The topics below provide information on setting up your guild website and customizing it to match the unique culture of your guild. Guild Setup & Admin Topics:
1. Adding Your Guild to Lore of WarCraftThe worlds' easiest system for setting up and managing a guild website. Most of the inital setup process is done automatically when you create an account and add a character. We look up the character's information on the WoW Armory and are able to tell what guild you are in, who your guild members are, and the guild rank of each member. We use this information to create a basic guild website automaticly the first time a guildie is added to the site. If the character you've added to the website is the GM or a Rank 1 officer, you will be able to setup forums and other useful guild features. The Guild Administration is hidden form members, recruits and other guild ranks. Read the Customize Guild Ranks & Permissions section below for information about allowing other guild ranks access to administration features. Visit the Guild Administration page to get started, or read the topics below for more information. 2. The Basics of Using Lore of WarCraftLore of WarCraft provides an easy way to host a guild website and interact with gamer friends. Players can add all their characters to the website and profiles (think Facebook or MySpace page) are created for each character. The basics of creating character profiles is taken care of automaticly by pulling information from the WoW Armory. Additional social networking features allow the player to custom taylor his profiles. While visiting the website the player can switch which character they are viewing the website with. The character they select is used for posting on forums, sending private messages and a variety of other features. The character the website is being visited as is displayed in the upper right of every page , and next to it is a Switch Character link they can use to change the active character. This is structured similiar to what happens in-game. When in-game you login and select a character, and all messages sent, guild chat and etc. are based on that character. If the same person logs in to the game with a different character in a different guild, the guild chat & etc. is different. The main differences between in-game character login this website are: on return visits it remembers your last selected character and the private message system (mail) is shared between all characters (only who sent the message varies). Getting Around on Lore of WarCraftEach player who registers for an account at Lore of WarCraft has three core areas available: My Home, My Profile, & My Guild. These three sections are linked at the top of every page and allow the player to access a wealth of useful features. My GuildThe My Guild link takes a player to their character's guild home page, and is the same page the public sees when they visit your guild website. The Guild home page acts as a protal to guild related features. Main Features:
My ProfileThe My Profile link takes a player to their character's profile page, and is the same page the public sees when they view the character's profile. The character profile lists a variety of stats and information about the character. The character's stats, guild & etc. are pulled from the WoW Armory. It is instructive to think of the character profile page like a Facebook or MySpace profile, but with a WoW twist. Players can customize this page to reflect their interests, and personal style. Players can use the social networking tools to connect with all in-game friends. Main Features:
My HomeThe My Home link takes a player to a private page custom created for that character. It merges the features available on the My Guild page and the My Profile page. It is the central hub for all guild and social network activities of the player. Main Features:
Visit the Create Account page to start using these features. 3. Guild Administration OverviewWe make managing your guild so easy it's sick. Our guild tools provide the perfect balance between automating mundane tasks and customizing your guild website to match your guild's unique culture. Our features were designed to work together and focus on the unique elements of the game. Armory IntegrationAt the heart of our system is our integration with the WoW Armory. Everytime a character registers on the website his guild affiliation and rank are pulled from the WoW Armory. If you invite a new guild member, remove a guild member, or change a guild members rank in-game... a simple click of the Update Members feature updates your guild website to match the in-game status of the guild. For example, lets say one day you had some guild drama and had to kick three players and their five alts, two other trouble makers got demoted from officer to member, another member got promoted to officer, and two recruits were invited to the guild... we'll call this a busy day. In you average guild forum or website this would be a pain to manage, and something could easily get missed. On Lore of WarCraft you simply click the Update Members link. The Update Members feature will update your website to match the data in the WoW Armory, which includes guild membership and guild rank of each member, and affects all features on the website... it doesn't get much easier than that! Please note, there is a delay between what happens in-game and the data on the WoW Armory. Feature AdministrationOur guild features allow you to customize your guild to match your unique style, and offer two basic ways to access administration functions. Ways to Adminsiter Guild Features:
Read on for more information about using guild features, or visit the Guild Administration page and try it. 4. Customize Guild Ranks & PermissionsProgramed with the game in mind, access to features is based on guild rank. By pulling data from the WoW Armory we do the hard part, figuring out who gets access to what features. But it only goes so far, and we know many guilds like to customize things. The Guild Rank administration pages allow you to customize rank names and set access levels (permissions) to the various guild features.
Visit the Guild Administration page to customize your guild ranks & permissions. 5. Creating Off-Site Guild LinksWe play nice with other websites. Take advantage of guild tools or pages anywhere on the web. This feature allows players easy access to important guild resources. Off-Site Guild Links enables your guild to display links to pages outside the Lore of WarCraft website. For example your guild might have a DKP system, Forums, or etc. hosted on a pre-existing guild website... the sky is the limit, link to anything you might think your guild would find valuable (Thottbot, wowhead & etc. are popular choices as well). If your guild already has a website and you'd like to continue using it as your official site, no problem. Add a link to the home page and any important sections so other players can find your guild. The links you add will be displayed in the left column of your guild's pages. Visit the Guild Administration page to setup Off-Site Guild Links. |
